Community Participation
One of the most wonderful aspects of Sunstone Montessori is the close partnership between our parents and the school. Parent participation plays a significant role in this relationship and offers numerous benefits.
Getting involved and participating is a great way for parents and guardians to connect with each other and our dedicated staff, gain a deeper understanding of the school and Montessori pedagogy, grow as a person and become a better parent, share their skills in service of a greater good, and demonstrate their commitment to their child’s education, emotionally, socially, and academically.
There are many opportunities to participate, whether it’s chaperoning students on a Going Out, observing in a classroom, assisting at special events like Community Day or the Gala & Auction, pitching in to improve the landscape or hardscape of our campuses, doing the classroom laundry, or attending parent education events like the Silent Journey & Discovery, and Back to School Night.
Participation Expectations
As a member of the Sunstone community your involvement makes a meaningful difference in the strength of our community. We ask every parent to participate in the following ways.
Classroom Flowers/Laundry
- We ask every family to contribute to their classroom by bringing in fresh flowers and/or doing the weekly laundry. Please click below to sign up for your share.
Community Building
- Parents often ask how they can meet other parents, get involved, and contribute to the life of our community. We offer several social events for our families throughout the year, and in order for these events to be a success we need your participation.

Parent Education
- Your children thrive when we are in partnership with each other. In support of this partnership we offer an array of parent education on topics including child development, Montessori, and parenting. It is our expectation that families will attend the parent education opportunities that are relevant to their child’s age.

Campus/Facilities Project Call List: If you have any skills, experience, or interests that you can bring to our community, please let us know. Opportunities do arise and you never know when you may have the exact skill that we need. Classroom Wish Lists: The classrooms have wish lists of small items, as well as book wish lists, that contribute to the life of the classroom.
