We warmly invite you to a festive, adults-only back-to-school gathering on August 27th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.! We hope you can join the Guides and admin for an evening of wine, cheese, and great company as we reconnect with old friends and welcome new ones into our community.
Please note that we cannot provide childcare at this event due to the presence of alcohol, so we encourage you to arrange for a sitter in advance. Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to sharing this special time with you. Please RSVP above.
Elementary and Butterfly/Hummingbird Orientation Visit

Elementary students as well as Butterfly and Hummingbird students, returning and new, are welcome to stop by their classroom on August 28th, anytime between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to say hi to their Guide and Assistant, see their classroom, and drop off their belongings (as outlined in your welcome email sent out in August). No RSVP is required. Just come by when you can.

We’re excited to invite you to a special school wide community gathering at our lovely Milwaukie campus! Bring a blanket or chairs, and join the Sunstone community for a fun-filled day. There will be face painting, a clothing swap, games, a food truck, and opportunities to explore our 12 acres of fields, trails, blueberry patch, pond, goats, and beautiful oak trees. Families are welcome to bring lawn games. You can also purchase discounted tickets to our fabulous Gala & Auction (April 24th) to benefit Sunstone.
Community Day is a wonderful opportunity to come together at the beginning of the school year, meet new friends, and build lasting connections. We can’t wait to see you there!
Bring In Used Clothing Sept 8th-30th
Are you ready to refresh your child’s wardrobe for the new school year? Community Day is the time to do it. Here’s how:
Bring in clean, gently used children’s clothes, shoes, and outerwear (no socks or underwear) to the collection boxes during drop-off. Collection boxes will be in the courtyard @ Woodstock, and in the office @ Milwaukie from September 8th-30th. Then on October 3rd, visit the clothing exchange at Fall Community Day and replenish your child’s wardrobe for the new school year!
Winter Sing & Solstice Celebration

- Hawthorn Room: 12:00-1:00 p.m. singing and crafts in the classroom, 1:00-1:15 p.m. Early Dismissal – No Aftercare
- Woodstock Primary: 1:00-1:15 p.m. Winter Sing, 1:15 p.m. Early Dismissal – No Aftercare, 1:15-3:00 p.m. crafts in classroom (parents and students)
- Woodstock Elementary: 1:15-3:00 p.m. crafts in classroom, 1:15-3:15 p.m. Early Dismissal – No Aftercare
- Middle School will have their market open at the Woodstock campus.
Parent Participation Needed: Toddler, Primary, and Elementary families please find a way to pitch in. We have a few options to choose from.
- help the room parents set up the craft stations in the classrooms before the event
- help clean up after the event
- keep an eye on a craft table for 30 minutes during the event by restocking supplies and tidying up as needed (short 30 minute shifts available)
Each year we come together as a community and celebrate the upcoming winter solstice with music and creativity. The Toddler community will celebrate in the morning and the Primary and Elementary communities will celebrate in the afternoon (while the toddlers are napping).
The fabulous room parents will plan an array of crafts for us to make! From snow globes to scented bath salts to dried herbal sprays, every classroom will offer a different array of crafts. The room parents do the heavy lifting of planning the crafts and organizing the materials. The parents offer their support day of to ensure the event is a success for all.
Winter Sing & Solstice Schedule:
Toddler Classrooms: All Toddler parents are invited to join their child in the classroom for crafting from 8:45-9:30 a.m. Toddlers will have an Early Dismissal 3:00-3:15 p.m. and no Aftercare.
Hawthorn Classroom: Schedule Coming Soon
Primary & Elementary @ Woodstock: Primary and Elementary families are invited to join us Friday, December 18th, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The Children’s Houses will usher in the season with a chorus of songs (this is beyond precious and not to be missed), after which we will enjoy an afternoon of crafting in the classrooms planned by our fabulous Room Parents! Families will start crafting in their child’s home room. After which, families at Woodstock are welcome to explore craft options in other classrooms. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR ADULT GUARDIAN WHEN ROAMING BEYOND THEIR HOMEROOM.
No Aftercare – Early Dismissal: There will be no aftercare in any programs on Friday, December 18th.

- Hawthorn: Schedule Coming Soon
- Children’s House: 1:15 p.m. dismissal after Winter Sing
- Elementary: 1:15-3:00 p.m. dismissal from classroom (Students will be dismissed to their parent or approved guardian in the classroom. Students without a parent or guardian will remain in their classroom until 3:00 p.m. dismissal. There is No Aftercare this day.)
Bingo Night – Elementary & Middle School Families

Elementary and Middle School families,
The Upper Elementary Lupine 6th Years invite you to the Woodstock campus for a night of pizza and bingo to raise funds for their 6th Year trip! Dates coming soon.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Pizza and dessert will be sold concession style. Bingo cards will be available for purchase at 3 for $1. You can play as many cards at a time as you wish! Every winner gets a prize and all proceeds will help fund the Lupine graduates’ 6th Year trip.
We look forward to a rousing evening of BINGO with you!
Parent/Guide Happy Hour

Sunstone Auction & Gala

You’re warmly invited to join the Sunstone community on April 24th for our biggest and most anticipated event of the year—the Gala & Auction! This special evening is all about building community and raising vital funds for Sunstone. Enjoy a delicious catered dinner, sip on bespoke cocktails from the open bar, and support our school by bidding on fantastic auction packages. All proceeds directly benefit Sunstone’s programs, financial aid, and savings.
Please Pitch In: Your participation is key to our success and there are numerous ways you can contribute. The Gala & Auction is a big event, and it takes a lot of people to put it together.
If you love parties, have a flair for décor, like planning or organizing events, or love working with a fun group of people, please email our Gala co-chairs, Kat & Ashlee, to inquire about joining the Auction committee.
We also need volunteers to assist with various aspects of the event, from decorations to setup to support during the event. Even if you can’t attend, your participation is invaluable in making this night a success. Please email our Gala co-chairs, Kat and Ashlee, to express your interest in helping and learn more about what is needed.

Spring Community Day hosted by the Middle School students

Graduation Ceremony

The last day of school is Thursday, June 10th. All programs will run as normal.
Our graduation ceremony will be held at the Milwaukie campus on Friday, June 11th, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. This ceremony honors the students who are graduating out of the Primary, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Middle School programs.
Families of Primary graduates as well as all Elementary and Middle School families are welcome to join this celebration.

Bike Bus

You can rock and roll all the way to school on Sunstone’s Bike Bus!
Bike Buses are a great way to get active and build community. Bike Buses work sort of like yellow school buses… except they are a lot more fun. Students are encouraged to ride their bikes or scooters or run really really fast.
We have a bike-friendly route starting at SE 44th & Ellis, near Woodstock Park. The bike bus departs at 8:05 a.m., takes a path through Woodstock park and arrives at school around 8:15 a.m. We hope you can join us.
Grandparent/Special Person’s Day & Noon Dismissal

Students are welcome to invite their grandparents, or a special elder person in their life (maybe a neighbor, aunt, or long-time family friend) to join us for special time together on Wednesday, November 25th followed by a noon dismissal for all! Please RSVP above. Thank you.
Woodstock campus will have a special assembly in the gym with a variety of acts and Milwaukie campus will share songs and refreshments in the Middle School.
Because of limited space, this event is reserved for grandparents and special guests only.
Parents, we’ll be recording the programs and sharing them with you afterward so you can
still enjoy the experience from afar.
Noon Dismissal:
Parents, please plan on picking your child up at noon on Wednesday, November 25th. If you would like your child to go home with their grandparent or special friend, please email attendance with the name of your child and name(s) of the grandparent or special person.

Share Your Knowledge With a Classroom
Do you play a musical instrument? Have an artistic skill or craft like calligraphy or weaving? Are you an expert on sharks or machines or gardening or really anything under the sun? Are you a history buff with love for a particular genre? Do you have an affinity for and know how to cook a particular ethnic food?
If you answered yes to any of the above or have ANY OTHER skills, knowledge, or expertise on ANYTHING, then we’d love to know about it and put you in our resource binder for the classrooms.
If an interest in the classroom matches your particular skill set or knowledge base, the Guide will get in touch with you to coordinate a date and time to come into the classroom and share your knowledge. You may be asked to share with the whole class or you may share with only a few children. Either way, your skills and knowledge are a valuable asset to the growth and discovery in our community.
