Become a Monthly Supporter
I like the ease of the monthly contributions. It’s good to know that I’m supporting the Sunstone Community and I can just set up the payments at the beginning of the year and not worry about it further. – Sunstone Parent of Two
Monthly contributors make a pledge for the year and have that pledge deducted in monthly increments over the course of 12 months. Even the smallest gift makes a difference and has a positive impact on Sunstone and the community.
True Tuition
Like most independent schools, tuition and fees at Sunstone do not cover the true cost of educating a student. In order to keep our program affordable for more families, tuition is set below the true cost of education at Sunstone Montessori School.
You can keep our program affordable, and support families for whom tuition would otherwise be out of reach, by making up the difference between tuition and the true cost of education at Sunstone Montessori School.
We offer two options to offset this difference.
- True Tuition ($1,500): a tax-deductible contribution to cover the true cost of educating one child
- True Tuition Plus ($3,000): a tax-deductible contribution to cover the true cost of educating two children
Corporate Matching Funds
Double your gift!
Many companies will match their employee’s or their family’s giving annually. Check with your Human Resources department to see if your employer participates in matching charitable contributions, and contact Cathy to get started today.
Give Securities
Transferring stocks to Sunstone Montessori School is a great way to support the Annual Fund. When you donate stock, you will receive a tax deduction equal to the stock’s market value but with no capital gains tax imposed on the sale. Please download and fill out the information on our authorization form, send it to your broker, and contact Cathy to let her know that the transaction is in process.

Fundraising Events
Each year, Sunstone hosts fundraising events. These are community events, to bring us together, to celebrate Sunstone, and to raise funds to support Sunstone’s mission and vision.

- Sunstone’s Gala & Auction in the spring
IRA Rollover Gift
For those 70½ or older, another great option is to make a charitable IRA rollover gift. You can transfer up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA to Sunstone Montessori School without reporting the distribution as taxable income. Since your charitable transfer of IRA funds qualifies as a required minimum distribution, this can lower your income and reduce your taxes. Please contact Cathy for more information.
Planned Giving
You can create a legacy through a planned gift which supports Sunstone into the future.
Examples of planned gifts are bequests and gifts in wills, charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, retirement funds, real estate, life insurance policies, and life insurance to replace a gift. The benefit of planned gifts is that they can cost you nothing in your lifetime and still support Sunstone in the future.
