We look at the world once, in childhood. The rest is memory. –From Notos, by Louise Gluck
The child from 3-6 is still very much learning through the senses, and what better time to explore with the senses than summer! A listening walk, a sniffing walk, a feeling walk with tightly shut eyes, a tasting walk through an orchard, let your imagination roam! Experiences with the natural works can fill many happy hours.
Bring the birds up close with a feeder. You hobby shop may have a kit you could build with your child. Hand magnifiers are great for inspecting the creepy crawlies.
Take a look at your child’s environment. Are there old toys that could be stored or given away to make room for new interests?
