Learning at Home Resources – Elementary
Facebook Group
For those of you on Facebook, there’s a wonderful group called “Montessori Elementary at Home During School Closure: Parent Support.” Its members share ideas, advice, suggestions, print/make at home Montessori materials, etc. I highly recommend joining this group!

- Story Shed is an app that we listen to at lunch in our classroom: https://podcast.app/story-shed-p463019/
- Audible has made available hundreds of children’s titles for free listening:

The stories may inspire your child to create art or write a reflection about the moral of the story. They could keep a list of the books they listen to and record what they liked or didn’t like about each one. They could even write their own picture book.Sophie’s MasterpieceStrega Nona
Math
- Khan Academy is an excellent math resource. You can search for lessons based on age, or subject. Though it is not Montessori, it provides students with the ability to learn at their own pace and follow their interests.
- Math Fact Cafe is a good website for generating worksheets – from math practice to money and clock time.
Science
- Mad Science at home experiments: https://www.madsciencepromo.com/athomeexperiments
- Sun/Solar Energy Themes: https://www.lgcypower.com/sun-
and-solar-stem-experiments- for-kids/
Geography
In the classroom we use salt dough to make maps of continents and their geographical features (rivers, mountains, mountain ranges, lakes). This would replace step 4. below. After the map is dried students can use paint to color in their features.
Fun
- Free virtual tours of museums and zoos, plus a link for streaming opera!
