A Day in the Montessori Toddler Community

Children in our toddler environment explore a range of activities designed to help them develop independence, control of movement, language, and much more. They focus on toilet independence, social interactions, language development, and practical life activities such as pouring, managing clothing, and preparing snacks. The environment serves children from 16 months, if they have begun walking, to three years. Children transition to one of our Children’s House classrooms as their independence develops.

Nuts and Bolts

Toddlers attend from 8:30am to 12:00pm or 3:00pm, five days a week, year round. For those who need extended care, the classroom is open from 7:30am to 5:30pm at no additional charge. The class of 16 children is staffed by one AMI trained Lead Guide, one AMI trained Assistant Guide, and two classroom Assistants. A nutritious lunch made from fresh, local, natural and organic ingredients is provided for everyone, and a nap is provided for children staying past 12:00pm. Space is limited.

Enrollment: We have rolling admissions in the Toddler Community. When a child turns 3, he or she graduates out of the Toddler Community and into the Children’s House which creates an opening for a new 16-20 month-old toddler. We are able to enroll about 10 children into the Toddler Community per year as spaces become available.

See It in Action

The very best way to learn about Sunstone Montessori is to see it in action. We encourage you to visit our beautiful and spacious campus to take a tour, observe briefly in classrooms, learn about Montessori education, our programs, who we are, and what we do. Time is set aside at the end for questions and answers.

We look forward to sharing Sunstone with you!
