After receiving a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture in 1995, from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Monica moved to southern Florida and then up to Connecticut where she practiced her combined love of art and nature working in small progressive landscape architecture firms.
In 2001 Monica moved to Portland to train at the Montessori Institute Northwest, where she received her AMI primary guide certification. After her training Monica decided to stay home and raise her two children until they were old enough to join the Sunstone Children’s House community in 2004 and 2007 respectively. Monica also joined the Sunstone Community in 2007 as the Aftercare Coordinator. Since then she has served as classroom Assistant, classroom Guide, Administrative Assistant, and currently the Communications Manager.
Monica is happy to be a member of an organization that she believes in, grateful to work with people that she loves, and proud to be a parent of two Sunstone Alumni. In her spare time Monica loves to dance, paint, laugh, camp, and explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
